Wrong woman killed in love triangle murder-for-hire plot, officials say

Her body was found in Ormond Beach, many miles from her home after she'd been kidnapped and suffocated.

Florida police have arrested three individuals in relation to the murder of a woman whose body was discovered on 9 January.

Russell Gibson, Osceola County Sheriff, said, "This was a murder for hire".

Zengotita-Torres moved to Osceola County from Puerto Rico with her 14-year-old-son, husband and father about a year ago, investigators said. "This mother, this wife, this daughter - for no reason, at all".

Deputies say Ishnar Lopez Ramos paid Gloriamarie Quinnones Montes and Alex Ramos Rivera to help her kill a woman who was supposedly involved with the same man as she was.

Zengotita-Torres was allegedly tied and beaten unconscious before the suspects transported her in their vehicle to Volusia County.

The sheriff's office added that the suspects did not realize that they had abducted the wrong person until they reached her house in Orlando, however, even after that they continued with their alleged plan. The only similarity between Zengotita-Torres and the intended target was that they both worked at the same store, the report said.

She chose to contract Alexis Ramos-Rivera and his sweetheart, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, to slaughter the lady, yet they confused Zengotita-Torres for their objective and stole her.

City, responding to this, have ended their pursuit and it seems Manchester United are now the only interested team. I don't want to give you wrong information.

"I get emotional because it just touches me so deeply that one of our citizens was killed in such a manner over a mistaken identification, and in the end it appears to be a lovers' triangle", he said.

Lopez-Ramos, Ramos-Rivera and Quinones-Montes have been booked in Osceola County Jail and face charges of premeditated first-degree murder, according to jail records.

Investigators arrested Lopez-Ramos after she used Zengotita-Torres' ATM card, the station reported.

Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson amid a news meeting Friday told correspondents the suspects purposefully focused on the 42-year-old Kissimmee inhabitant due to an instance of mixed up character.

Lopez reportedly gave up the names of the other two suspects.

"All three confirmed this was a murder for hire and that the victim was mistakenly targeted and murdered", the Sheriff said.

All three suspects, originally from Puerto Rico, had recently relocated to Central Florida around Christmas, he said.
