The New England Patriots are expected to lose their offensive and defensive coordinators as #Josh McDaniels and #Matt Patricia are expected to be named as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions, respectively. He also served as New England's offensive coordinator from 2006 through 2008 before taking a head coaching job with the aforementioned Broncos.

Pagano was two years into a four-year extension at the time of his firing.

The Colts had been the favorite for McDaniels, but the opening of the Tennessee Titans head coaching position had cast doubt on that.

Tennessee went 8-8 in 2016 before winning 9 games this past season, with also adding a road playoff victory earlier this month.

Third, the Titans do not have a lingering shoulder issue with their franchise quarterback.

McDaniels and Colts general manager Chris Ballard share the same agent and are said to have a good relationship.

The Colts have already interviewed Baylor head coach Matt Rhule, although he has since taken himself out of the running for the job.

If the Patriots wind up making the Super Bowl, however, nothing can be announced until February 5, which is the day after the Super Bowl.

A curve ball has been thrown into this coaching search and we will see if the Colts have the ability to fight it off.
