JeM terrorists killed in JK

Five suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants, on Monday, infiltrating to carry out a suicide mission, were gunned down by security forces, police said.

"I congratulate our security forces: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Uri anti infiltration bid in which 5 terrorists were killed", said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The operation was conducted jointly by police, army and the central armed police forces, said Vaid.

Defence spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said a group of terrorists was spotted infiltrating from Pakistan into India near Dulanja area of border town Uri, early in the morning. The army's quick retaliation, say sources, indicate a new, proactive approach in the face of incessant Pakistani provocation. Two terrorists had been killed in the attack for which Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed had claimed responsibility.

Security across the region has been also been beefed up in the wake of upcoming Republic Day on January 26.
