WWE Hall of Fame: Goldberg announced as centerpiece of new class

The 51-year-old former Universal Champion will be recognised for his remarkable career in the ring at the prestigious ceremony on Friday, April 6 in New Orleans to kick-off WrestleMania 34 weekend.

The former WCW headliner is now 51 years-old, and he stated in interviews after his last run that getting back into wrestling shape was much more challenging than his initial WCW and WWE tenures. He began his career with an unbelievable 173-match undefeated streak and served as one of the promotion's most recognizable stars during its ratings battle with WWE, since dubbed the "Monday Night Wars".

After being announced as featuring in a WWE videogame, Goldberg appeared on ESPN, and subtly hinted at a wrestling return. Goldberg won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2003, and defeated the likes of The Rock, Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Randy Orton, Triple H, Brock Lesnar and Kane. "My comeback had everything to do with a change of heart on both sides".

He would vindicate his WWE career, though, in 2016, when he returned to take on Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

Goldberg became famous for one of the greatest winning streaks in the sport as he went 173-0 in WCW.

During his gap in professional wrestling, Goldbeg stayed in the public eye as an actor, television host and mixed martial arts commentator.
