Koreas talk about Olympic co-operation ahead of IOC meeting

Although North and South Korea have begun to engage in rare diplomatic talks regarding the North's participating in the upcoming Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea, Kim Jong Un's reclusive regime has made it clear that they are unwilling to include their nuclear ambitions in said discussions.

Last week, during the first face-to-face talks with Seoul since 2015, North Korea pledged to send a delegation of athletes and high-level officials to Pyeongchang for the Games which take place from February 9 to 25.

North and South Korea agreed Wednesday to field a joint women's hockey team at next month's Winter Olympics and the two countries will march in to the opening ceremony under a single flag, according to South Korea's Ministry of Unification.

As to why the Samjiyon Orchestra was chosen, Cha Du Hyeogn, a visiting research fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said, "I believe North Korea refrained from sending the Moranbong Band because if it performs alongside sophisticated pop stars from South Korea, it may be overshadowed".

7- We also have the International Olympic Committee meeting coming up on Saturday. where the two Koreas are expected to discuss the results of today's talks with the International Olympic Committee in Switzerland.

A South Korean official tried to respond to the fears Wednesday.

Yu, a Korean-American student in Seoul, emphasized the general lack of salience placed on the North Korean nuclear threat by South Korean civilians. According to an official at South Korea's Unification Ministry, North Korea requested that the band be allowed to cross Panmunjeom and pass overland to South Korea.

A joint statement distributed by the ministry said the North Korean Olympic delegation will travel to South Korea across their heavily fortified land border.

21 states sue to keep net neutrality
The FCC's action also purports to limit the rights of California and other states to impose their own net neutrality requirements. The net neutrality rules were dismantled in a December vote led by Republican FCC chairman Ajit Pai .

South Korean media speculate up to about 10 North Korean athletes could come to Pyeongchang if the International Olympic Committee gives additional quota to the two figure skaters and six to eight other female hockey players.

He also said that he welcomed "the firm decisions the Security Council has taken in response to nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches by North Korea". It's scheduled to perform twice in South Korea - once in the capital, Seoul, and again in Gangneung, one of the Olympic locations on the country's east coast.

That came as a shock to team members, who had just returned to South Korea last Friday after training in the United States for the past three weeks, a senior official with the Korea Ice Hockey Association said.

North Korea has heightened its criticism of the United States.

The North Korean journalists union on Monday called on South Korea to "hold tight control" of its conservative media, warning that negative reports could scupper ongoing DPRK-ROK dialogue.

During the meeting, the United States also told allies to bolster the USA -led "maximum pressure" campaign against North Korea by stopping any attempts to evade existing sanctions against the pariah country.

South Korean women's hockey coach Sarah Murray told reporters Tuesday that she thought the proposed joint hockey team would affect team chemistry and create a hard situation for her players, some of whom would presumably lose playing time to new players.
