Unsurprisingly, the £22-26m range (i.e. €25-30m) is right in the wheelhouse of other recent wing-back signings of the Conte Era, including Marcos Alonso and Davide Zappacosta, both of whom got done around £23m.

The Blues are in the hunt for a new left-sided defender in the January transfer window and have long held an interest in Alex Sandro.

Instead, they appear to have turned their attention to the more affordable Emerson, who could be available for around £20m.

Asked if the move is a real possibility, the agent said: "Of course yes, absolutely, the two clubs are now talking, we'll see if it will be successful".

On the Conte factor, he added: "Obviously, yes, it would be a dream".

Garcia did however add "nothing is certain" with the clubs still deep in discussion and will wait for further developments before travelling to Italy himself.

Its not the first time that a Premier League side have been linked with the Italian, with Liverpool also having been linked in the last few months.

Palmieri is yet to feature for Roma in the Champions League this term, which means that if he secured a move to Chelsea he would be able to play in the knockout stages.

And he indicated that Emerson would love to get the opportunity to play under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge.
