The deal was cancelled a few weeks ahead of Mr. Netanyahu's visit to India and its renewal is considered a "major strategic achievement", the Jerusalem Post reported.

Netanyahu said there is a similarity between how he changed the landscape in Israel after inheriting an economy with trouble on multiple fronts, and the way Prime Minister Modi is working.

Netanyahu will cap his hectic schedule by attending the "Shalom Bollywood" event, in which he will invite leading actors, directors, and producers in the Indian cinema industry to come to Israel to shoot movies and collaborate with the Israeli film and television industry.

Netanyahu, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, laid wreath at the memorial of the terror attack victims that claimed 166 lives, at the iconic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in south Mumbai under a heavy security blanket.

He religiously sported a small brimless cloth cap, called "kippah" - which he kept on all through the day in Mumbai.

The event was part of the Israeli premier's six-day visit to India.

The Israeli Prime Minister said the bond between India and Israel was not only a relationship between two people but a friendship between "two of the most ancient civilisations" which had several things in common like democracy, shared culture, and love for humanity.
