Salomon Rondon In Tears After James McCarthy Suffers Double Leg Break

However, the result was overshadowed by an horrific injury suffered by James McCarthy, with the Everton midfielder's leg broken in two places following a challenge by Salomon Rondon.

The Republic of Ireland global, in a last-ditch attempt to stop Rondon from scoring, stretched out his right leg and planted his foot in between the forward's foot and the ball.

Play was held up for nearly ten minutes as medics rushed to give oxygen to 27-year-old McCarthy while he lay in agony on the floor.

Allardyce added: "We'll do the operation as quick as we can". He's paid a heavy price for his commitment there.

Everton have confirmed that Ireland midfielder has suffered a double leg fracture.

"Now this is one serious injury that we know will keep him out until next season at some stage and it's a big blow".

Liverpool and the January Transfer Window
Supporters have been strongly calling for Klopp to dip into the transfer market to rectify the issue between the sticks. A year ago I decided already that if I had the opportunity to do it, we would do it between December 30 and January 1.

Things went from bad to worse for Everton, who fielded new signing Theo Walcott from Arsenal, when 27-year-old McCarthy sustained his injury after the interval as he tried to prevent West Brom's Salomon Rondon from shooting.

Baggies star Rondon was left in tears on the pitch when he saw the sickening injury he inflicted on his opponent as he accidentally kicked the back of his leg.

Rondon was preparing to shoot when he was tackled by Everton star McCarthy during the Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

TV directors opted not to show replays of the injury. While the full-back is set for a return to competitive action after nine months out, his club and global teammate will nearly certainly be out for as long, if not longer.

Of course, the extent of Coleman's involvement was to perhaps offer a few much-needed words of encouragement to his club and global teammate.
