A source close to the situation confirmed the Browns' interest in Haley is strong. Warner was the Cardinals' quarterback when Haley was their offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008.

The star running back carried the ball 16 times for 67 yards and a touchdown while catching nine passes for 88 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' season-ending defeat.

Not only did Bell arrive much later than that for the playoff game against Jacksonville (as well as one coach), he missed practically the entire Saturday walk-through the day before, showing up about five minutes before practice ended.

The shock decision was announced via the club's official website a day after the Hornets suffered a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City . A dismal run of form has seen the club win just one game in their last 11 Premier League fixtures.

Roethlisberger, who has averaged 297.6 passing yards per game since 2014, emphasized continuity with coaches and players during his weekly radio show, citing a productive meeting with Haley this week. "I believe Todd would be the first to acknowledge some of those interactions could have been handled differently". Haley would likely call plays with the Browns.

Haley was let go by the Steelers following the team's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round. Incidentally, Arians was the Steelers' offensive coordinator in that game. After the regular season, Jackson told reporters he had plans to hire a designated play-caller next season so he could better focus on the big-picture aspects of being a head coach.

But the Steelers - whose 13 wins tied the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings for most in the National Football League - had a rough stretch over the last four weeks of the season. It would explain why the Browns haven't already offered it to one of the other candidates.
