NFC championship: Three takeaways from Eagles' win over Vikings

New England isn't the most talented team in the AFC (or the NFL), but it showed in the AFC championship why it's the hardest team in the National Football League to beat. The Eagles are 4-0 when home underdogs in the playoffs.

They will be getting a rematch with the Patriots. And while players like Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz will receive most of the attention from the Vikings on defense, one member of the Eagles that could end up making a huge difference is Torrey Smith. Indeed, their head coach, Bill Belichick is one of the best to ever walk the sidelines. In fact, this is the best way to keep Brady and that vaunted offense off the field.

There's a sense of inevitability for the Patriots.

Here are seven things you may not know about the Patriots-Eagles matchup. "They got after us tonight". But if Carson Wentz were healthy, he'd probably be the favorite to win the MVP, which would have meant Tom Brady would also have gotten "snubbed" for yet another MVP.

In 1990, it was backup Jeff Hostetler getting the Giants to the Super Bowl.

Foles walked into the X-ray room after the game, but told The Associated Press after he came out: "I'm good". What's more, Blake Bortles was risky and efficient against the Patriots' secondary.

Monchi is quoted by the Metro refusing to rule out the sale of high-profile players this month. Roma's Edin Dzeko celebrates scoring against Chelsea earlier in the season at Stamford Bridge.

Foles was at his best on third downs, completing 10 of 11 for 159 yards and two TDs.

City crews dubbed the "Crisco Cops" spent Sunday morning greasing light poles around Philadelphia' Center City neighborhood to prevent Eagles' fans from climbing up after the game if the birds pull out a win and a trip to the Super Bowl. The Detroit Lakes, Minn., high school product and Minnesota State-Mankato graduate surely would've been a huge focus of national media had the Vikings qualified for the Super Bowl. Can the Patriots repeat history? Belichick beat the Jaguars without Julian Edelman, Dont'a Hightower or, for two quarters, Rob Gronkowski.

The Eagles will be playing in the Super Bowl for the first time since McNabb, wide receiver Terrell Owens and company suffered a 24-21 loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXIX in Jacksonville, Florida. Go ahead and take a close look at Sunday's matchups for the conference championship games.

The Vikings went for it on fourth-and-goal from the 8-yard line, Ronald Darby defended a pass intended for Thielen which fell incomplete. Their achievements are bonkers. Before halftime, the quarterback turned the ball over again, a product of a cross-blocking scheme gone awry in the red zone when tight end David Morgan was called upon to block Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett, who came speeding off the right edge to strip the ball from Keenum and force a fumble. Blount joined the Eagles on a one-year deal worth up to $2.8 million. "I love them", Zimmer said.

The Vikings celebrated Kyle Rudolph's 25-yard touchdown catch from Case Keenum on their opening drive by mimicking the Olympic sport of curling for their TD celebration.
