Steele is the author of the infamous Trump-Russia dossier, also known as the Steele dossier, a collection of memos he compiled before the 2016 presidential election that contains information alleging Russia has compromising information on President Donald Trump, among other allegations.

Trump previously allowed the release of a GOP memo charging the Federal Bureau of Investigation improperly obtained a warrant to do surveillance on a campaign adviser.

The president's rejection of the Democratic memo is in contrast to his enthusiastic embrace of releasing the Republican document, which he pledged before reading to make public. "@RealDonaldTrump is not interested in transparency, he is interested in protecting himself and derailing the Russian Federation investigation".

U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff, the committee's ranking member, fired back at Trump's claim that the Democratic memo was all about politics.

US President Donald Trump on Friday blocked the release of the Democratic memo on Russian Federation that had been prepared by the Democrats amid the federal probe into the election interference.

Trump would consider releasing the document if changes were made "to mitigate the risks" determined by the Department of National Intelligence and Justice Department of releasing those sensitive parts, McGahn wrote.

Trump on Saturday tweeted that the Democrats knew their memo would have to be heavily redacted.

"What they did is they said, 'look, you need to make some redactions and some technical corrections here and we will get it out right away.' Now from that point, we've heard nothing but crickets", Nunes, R-Calif., told Maria Bartiromo on "Sunday Morning Futures".

"The President doesn't want you to see these facts from the FISA application because it completely undermines his claim of vindication", Schiff said.

The vice president also opted not to attend a dinner where he was expected to sit with a member of the North Korean delegation. I think the United States knows that the sanctions on North Korea will take time to have the full impact on North Korea.

Spokesmen for the Justice Department did not respond Friday night to questions about the concerns that Rosenstein and Wray had reportedly expressed.

"The President's decision to block the Democratic memo from release is part of a risky and desperate pattern of cover-up on the part of the President", she added.

The White House announces it will not move forward with releasing the Democrat memo, unless certain changes are made.

Trump was unable to release the memo because it contained "numerous properly classified and sensitive passages", White House counsel Donald McGahn said late Friday.

Nunes also supports Trump's decision to block Schiff's memo even though he wanted to release his original one.

"The hypocrisy is on full display", said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

The House of Representatives Intelligence Committee voted unanimously on Monday to release the 10-page document drafted by the panel's Democrats, contingent on the Republican president agreeing to reclassify it. California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, has read the classified information both memos are based on.

Investigations have revealed the Steele dossier was funded in part by the Democratic National Committee and the campaign of 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. "We're going to release a letter".
