Facebook losing young users rapidly

Bill Fisher of eMarketer told the Guardian, 'Facebook has a teen proble.

Facebook is still growing in the USA market, according to the research firm, mainly due to increases in usage by older age groups.

'There are now some early signs that younger social network users are being swayed by Snapchat'. At the same time, eMarketer also predicts that the number of users aged between 12 and 17 will see a 5.6 percent decline while the number of users aged 18 to 24 will drop by 5.8 percent.

In addition, eMarketer has reduced it estimates among 18 to 24-year-olds by over five percentage points to 83 per cent of social network users.

However, eMarketer does note that while Snapchat is popular mainly among youngsters right now, it could appeal to more age groups in the future.

The same trend is expected to continue into 2019 and 2020, with declines in all segments of US users under 25, the report added.

Facebook's problem is due to SNapchat, which has doubled its take-up rate among social site users to 43%.

Andrew Rush, chief executive of 3-D printing company Made In Space, said plainly that the ISS isn't built for profit seeking. The administration will reportedly ask for $150 million in the 2019 fiscal year in its budget request on Monday.

Teenagers are turning away from Facebook more than ever while the popularity of Snapchat continues to grow, according to fresh research. The social network is expected to reach 169.5 million USA users this year, marking just a slight increase of almost 1 percent compared to 2017.

"The question will be whether younger users will still find Snapchat cool if more of their parents and grandparents are on it".

The largest growth iwill be among older users, with 500,000 new over-55s expected to join Facebook this year.

But faster-growing Instagram will be used by 104.7 million Americans and Snapchat will reach 86.5 million users, according to the forecast.

"This is the first time eMarketer has predicted a decline in the number of US Facebook users in those age groups", the company said.

The number of teens and young adults in the United Kingdom using Facebook is falling, as young people opt for Snapchat and the social network's own Instagram platform instead.
