It's our biggest overseas ODI triumph, Rohit on SA win

It's our biggest overseas ODI triumph, Rohit on SA win

In 13th February, 2018 the 5th match between this two super power team was staged and St. George's Park, Port Elizabeth was the host ground of the match.

Hashim Amla did so when the side were eliminated early in 2016's World T20 in India and on Thursday he fronted up again to talk about South Africa's ODI series loss to India. He was involved in a 105-run second wicket stand with Rohit before he was ran out by Jean-Paul Duminy.

India skipper Virat Kohli termed the fifth One Day International win against South Africa as a "collective effort". "But we have to give credit to India, they're playing incredibly well", he added. It is history and the guys have worked hard for it. Ever since the third Test in Johannesburg, it's been a good time for us.

"Also we have won so many series in the past back to back, we were very fortunate and none of us took it for granted".

"Every team has a vision of the 2019 World Cup and that's what we need to plan for, but for now 4-1 seems great and we'll look to wrap it up well". "We want to win 5-1 for sure, that doesn't change, but there'll be a chance for others to step in as well. If their turn to bat doesn't come, we can not do anything", he says, adding in jest "If we are playing well, we can not come back retired hurt".

Earlier‚ fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took a career-best four for 51 as Rohit Sharma finally got going for India scoring a superb 115 as the tourists posted 274 for seven. Hardik Pandya faltered with the bat but came roaring back with crucial wickets and his bullet throws that proved to be the difference maker.

Meanwhile, Amla also conceded that South Africa's top order has failed to live up to expectations and has also come up short to find an answer on how to combat India's spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

A cameo 39 from wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen, who had been the hero of South Africa's victory in the last match, could not stem the inevitable. While India had anyway opted against practicing on match eve, South Africa had to pack up theirs within 10 minutes.

Kuldeep and Chahal will finish the XI.

However, the conditions notwithstanding, India's inability to surge from a position of absolute strength to eventually not touching the 300-run mark raised questions on the middle-order's inability to add to the top-order onslaught. "You have to keep yourself in a good frame of mind, that's what I've been doing", Sharma said after being crowned the man of the match.

The wicket was tough to bat on in the middle. Rohit more than made up with a fluent knock which saw its own action.

The trend continued as Ajinkya Rahane (8) was run out when Rohit sent him back and India were put in a spot of bother.
