Nepal win last-ball thriller against Canada, enter Cricket World Cup Qualifiers

The Nepal team secured a spot in the next phase of qualifying after a miracone-wicketket win over Canada to finish top on the ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition.

Nepal will play the divisional final against UAE, with both teams qualifying for the ICC World Cup qualifiers event in Zimbabwe.

Ashfaq and Rohan Mustafa dominated the opening passage of play, after UAE chose to bat first, putting on a 109-run stand in 24 overs that set up a commanding total.

The Cardiac Kids from Nepal almost claimed a fourth final-over win, driven by captain Paras Khadka's second List A ton, but Ashfaq Ahmed's first-innings 114 proved decisive as UAE held on for a seven-run win to claim the WCL Division Two title at the Wanderers Sports Club.

Earlier, Nepal had defeated UAE by four wickets on the ninth match of the series on the same field held on February 11.

Pervez took three wickets for 41 runs for Canada (3-2).

Florida School Shooter Had Been Expelled, Was Considered a Threat to Students
A gunman, whom police identified as 19-year-old former student Nikolas De Jesus Cruz , opened fire on students in the afternoon. He said responsibility for such a shooting is, in part, on classmates who know if shooters are "mentally disturbed".

Nepal scored a total that has become unimaginable giving poor batting performances with captain Paras Khadka getting a classy century, still UAE beat Nepal by 7 runs to claim the World Cricket League Division 2 title at the Wanderers.

"We need to take all the positives from this tournament into the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier as it will be a different level out there".

In UAE's innings, Shaiman Anwar top-scored with 77 off 59 balls (3x6, 5x4), while Muhammad Usman added 59 off 57 balls (2x6, 3x4) and Ghulam Shabber 44.

Here is where the team fought back!

With one needed from the final ball, Karan managed a single to seal a memorable win.

Similarly, Gyanendra Malla contributed 24 off 25 balls including one four while Dilip Nath made 13 off 29 balls smashing two boundaries. Nepal won the game emphatically, chasing 194 runs and won the game by 1 wicket with 0 balls remaining.
