Skier Gus Kenworthy jabs Mike Pence with tweet

He tweeted out a picture of his X-Ray, along with one of his freshly casted hand and included this quip: "It won't stop me from competing (obvi) but it does prevent me from shaking Pence's hand so".

Gay athlete Kenworthy has not hidden his disdain for Mr Pence, who has been criticised as being an opposer of LGBTQ rights.

Kenworthy and Rippon made headlines as the first two openly gay Olympians, and both have been vocal about Pence's policies on LGBT rights.

"And I was really feeling burdened being in the closet", he said.

Now, Gus Kenworthy, a US Olympic skier has also criticized Pence.

Kenworthy also told Ellen DeGeneres on her show that he does not want to meet Pence since the Olympics should be about inclusion, HuffPost reported February 5.

Kenworthy will compete in the slopestyle competition Sunday looking to add another medal to his collection as he earned silver in the same event at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.

His comments appear to reference claims that Vice President Pence supported "gay conversion therapy", which Pence's office has denied. He also captioned an Instagram photo of the two with, "Eat your heart out, Pence".

The openly gay snow sports star feels an obligation to push back against the current administration, especially when Trump is attempting to bar transgender people from serving in the military. "We're queer. Get used to it", alongside photos of himself and Adam. "But I'm looking forward to the day when it's like "the Olympic medalist" or whatever and then further into the conversation maybe it's revealed that I'm gay but it's not the defining characteristic".
