Here's Why Kate Middleton Didn't Wear All-Black to the BAFTAs

Modeled after the Golden Globes blackout, nearly all of the evening's guests wore head-to-toe black ensembles and the official Time's Up pin.

Notably, Kate chose not to wear all-black to the event, even though many women chose to do so as a show of support for the #TimesUp movement.

However with all eyes on the Duchess of Cambridge as she faced one of her greatest fashion challenges to date after a letter from actresses and industry leaders urged BAFTA attendees to don all-black, the royal was left with a hard choice.

The Duchess dressed her growing baby bump in a dark green Jenny Packham gown that featured an empire waistline. However, as a member of the royal family, Middleton isn't allowed to show any political affiliation or bias, so wearing all-black might've been considered a breach of protocol. President of BAFTA Prince William was joined on the red carpet by his wife Kate, who is pregnant with their third child.

And the 36-year-old accessorized that evening look with the brand's Heart Clasp Clutch Box and a pair of Prada's wavy-cut heels (both of which sold out instantly).

Brighton cruised into the last eight as fourth-tier Coventry City's fairytale run came to a crashing end in a 3-1 defeat. Connor Goldson added a second goal in the first half, and Leonardo Ulloa headed the third in the second half.

For last year's star-studded ceremony, the Duchess of Cambridge opted for a cold-shoulder gown by Sarah Burton's Alexander McQueen.

"My guess on this is that Kate will wear a dress that is black with some coloured/metallic detail", she tweeted.

The royal also looked to the Queen of England for a helping hand and borrowed her diamond wedding bracelet, which Prince Philip designed for his wedding to the queen in 1947.

She wore her brunette locks in tousled curled as she strutted down the red carpet alongside her husband.

Numerous celebrities participated, including Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence.
