Manohar Parrikar not diagnosed with cancer: Lilavati issues official statement

Meanwhile, the Goa CM was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for the treatment of pancreatitis.

Sources at the CMO said he had recovered after the treatment at GMC but on Thursday early morning, he felt the stomach pain again after which his family chose to shift him to Mumbai hospital for proper treatment. He said the chief minister needed sufficient time to recover.

A formal statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said that Parrikar was in Mumbai for a "routine check-up".

"It has been brought to our notice (that) various malicious and misleading reports/rumours are floating around in the electronic/print media with regards to his health", a hospital statement read.

It is interesting to note that the hospital statement makes no mention of Parrikar's ailment.

The Goa CM is unlikely to be present for the Budget session which is scheduled to begin on Monday.

A report from Panaji quoting Speaker Pramod Sawant said a business advisory committee meeting has been convened to decide whether the budget session should be curtailed to three days. The Goa chief minister's office was not immediately reachable for a comment.

Manohar Parrikar was admitted to Lilavati hospital three days ago, after he complained of pain in the stomach.

"CM's treatment is in the right direction and that he is responding to the same". Expert doctors are taking good care of him.

Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar said the Opposition parties have no reservations if the session is curtailed as the chief minister is genuinely ill. However, it is reported that Parrikar will attend the state Budget Session which will kick off from February 19.
