GeekWire: Amazon extends Prime credit card benefits to Whole Foods purchases

Prime members who shop at Whole Foods will now earn 5% back if they use the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card.

If you are a Prime member and you use a Prime Rewards Visa card, Amazon will reward you with 5 percent back on Whole Foods Market purchases.

Amazon customers who aren't Prime members, but who pay with the regular Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card, will earn 3 percent back. Earlier this month, Amazon announced that Prime members now have access to free two-hour delivery on thousands of Whole Foods items. Her blog was featured in the book, "Blogging Heroes" (Wiley 2008).

When Amazon purchased Whole Foods for $14 billion previous year, it promised that the Prime shipping and entertainment membership program would become the loyalty program of Whole Foods, too.

The Amazon Rewards Visa Card was launched with Chase past year.

Amazon has also made other moves since taking over Whole Foods.

Amazon has already rolled out price cuts for Whole Foods shoppers as a result of its acquisition of the grocery chain. But by December, there were reports of some prices inching higher.

The implementation of a new inventory management system has led to bare shelves, and Whole Foods employees have detailed how Amazon is crushing team morale with its procedures.
