Rumor of the day: Transformers franchise getting rebooted

According to a report from Transformer World (via Collider), Hasbro allegedly announced during its investor preview at the 2018 Toy Fair in NY that the Transformers film franchise is going to get a complete overhaul, meaning that last year's Transformers: The Last Knight will mark the end of the current run of films and that a proposed Transformers 6 will be abandoned, with the upcoming Bumblebee to be the last iteration of this particular version of the universe.

Despite recent reports to the contrary, it seems that the Transformers movie franchise won't be rebooting after all.

Warning: SPOILERS for Transformers: The Last Knight are ahead! This must have shaken Paramount up a bit because not long after the dust settled, rumors suggested a planned reboot of the series after the slated Bumblebee stand-alone film. How much of the existing canon will play into its sequels will largely be determined by its critical, audience and box office reception. Director Michael Bay left the Transformers world behind after helming The Last Knight, and with Bumblebee being a relatively self-contained story, it's possible the companies feel like now is the time for a new beginning. This news has come to light at the Toy Fair 2018 Hasbro Investor Preview, and is also as a effect of Hasbro exerting more control over the movie takes on its toys. That scoop is already being called into question, however, as Bleeding Cool is now reporting that the Transformers brand manager refuted the idea of a reboot during Hasbro's presentation at Toy Fair New York. At the NY toy fair, the latest word is the reboot is no longer likely to happen.

Don't believe what you hear, don't worry. It is also the worst-reviewed installment among all releases so far. Yes, before being a franchise to worldwide success, Transformers was a collection of toys with which you could have fun in head-to-head in our rooms.

Bumblebee is due out December 21, 2018.

In any case, last week Hasbro hinted at a possible reboot for the Transformers only to backpedal nearly immediately after. Let us know in the comment section below!
