Karnataka wants good governance and not goonda governance: Amit Shah

The countdown for the exit of the Congress regime has begun, the BJP president said, because people had become sick of the corruption and are eager to change the government. "Now use Siddaramaiah government as translation for corruption.Siddaramaiah government has shamelessly indulged in corruption for last five years", he said.

Addressing reporters in later in the day, Mr Shah re-iterated his charge of "appeasement" against the Siddaramaiah government, saying, "There is a limit to vote bank politics".

To a query on why the Centre does not ban organisations such as the Popular Front of India and its political arm, the SDPI, Shah said banning an organisation depends on proposals sent by the State government.

"As party president, I would like to assure you. let this Siddaramaiah government try to protect (killers) however much they want". The latest example of appeasement politics in Karnataka is where son of MLA Haris thrashed a man but there was no FIR. Why? This is appeasement politics.

The BJP has been targeting the Siddaramaiah government consistently over a series of killings of Hindu activists by alleged "Jehadi forces", and accused it of adopting a "soft approach" towards them as part of the Congress' "vote bank " and "minorities appeasement" politics.

BJP chief Amit Shah will be on a three-day tour of poll-bound Karnataka from tomorrow during which he will attend a number of events and hold public meetings, according to a party statement.

Meanewhile, BJP leader R Ashok said that Vidwath was not a BJP worker.

When asked why the previous BJP government in the State had failed in providing good governance, Shah said the party had learnt a lot since then. Other parties go for elections based on various ministers and their work. Amit Shah dubbed the Congress-led government a "goonda government".

He exhorted the party in Karnataka to take a pledge from the land of Parashurama and Rani Abbakka (the legendary queen of Ullal in Dakshina Kannada district, who fought the Portuguese in the 16th century) to overthrow the Siddaramaiah government in the coming assembly polls to accomplish the party's Congress-mukt agenda.
