Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition Demo Available Next Week

Square Enix is no stranger to offering bonus content for its games, and that focus has definitely held true for Final Fantasy 15.

Today they announced that a free demo of the upcoming Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition is coming February 26 to Steam, Origin, and the Windows 10 Microsoft Store. However, the opportunity to do this will be a limited one and will only be privy to those who purchase the game before May 1. We've known for a while that the Steam release of XV will allow mods and will let your moral judgment as a gamer prevail for what mods to install, but if you want Noct to look like Gordon Freeman, you've got until May 1 to pick up the PC version.

If you purchase the game from the Microsoft Store, your selection of bonus items is decidedly less exciting, with Phoenix Downs and Elixirs up for grabs as well as a sword for your trouble. Luckily, Square Enix released a benchmarking tool, so you can check out for yourself how badly the Final Fantasy XV PC version will hurt your PC. (We've asked Square Enix if Xbox One data is similarly compatible with Windows Edition and will update accordingly.) There will also be cross-play for Comrades between the two systems, which Square Enix will add as part of an update sometime after launch.

Players who pre-order the game from Origin will receive the bonus "FFXV Decal Selection", containing an array of colorful decals for the Regalia auto celebrating Gladiolus, Prompto and Ignis, along with the men and women of the Kingsglaive.

The bonus will be available to all Windows Edition owners on Stream through the Workshop associated with Final Fantasy 15. With Final Fantasy XV set to release on PC next month, a pre-order costume has been announced.
