Kate Middleton's flower-design tattoo

Kate Middleton's flower-design tattoo

The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her ladylike elegance, so the acquisition of a tattoo on her hand might shock some royal fans.

The duchess was enthralled when Shajida Begum, 18, painted a delicate flower on her hand with the natural temporary dye - and was later seen showing off her new tattoo.

PREGNANT Kate showed off her new henna tattoo after being inked on a royal tour of Sunderland.

William, 35, and Kate, 36, kicked off a whirlwind trip to Sunderland by visiting the opening of the Fire Station Arts Centre, one of the city's most iconic buildings that was recently converted into a hub for artists.

Speaking to the Mirror, Begum recalled her visit with Kate: "I said "Would you like a design?' and she was like 'Yes, if you don't mind".

The young girl added, 'She was saying it was really pretty'.

Henna tattoos, typically brown and derived exclusively from plants, are safe to use during pregnancy.

The double-breasted designer piece was fitted and showcased the mother-to-be's blossoming baby bump with just over two months until her due date in April. "I was telling her when she can wash it off-I said, 'When it becomes flaky'". It features an impressive 105m central A-frame pylon, which is twice the height of Nelson's Column and taller than Big Ben's clock tower.

Kate also asked if she could take a pack of bindis home for Princess Charlotte.

When the new bridge is finished, it will help connect the Port of Sunderland and the city centre with the A19.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge put on hard hats, protective eye wear and reflective vests for their visit to the Northern Spire, a new bridge over the River Wear that is to open later this year in Sunderland, England.

The Northern Spire will help reduce congestion around the city, speed up auto journeys and allow land along both sides of the River Wear to be regenerated and developed.

Construction supervisor Peter Smillie, 32, who has overseen the installation of the bridge's parapets, showed William and Kate what to do, he said: "To be part of this project tying up one of our bolts makes them a part of this achievement".

Yankees things to know: Brandon Drury trade; Gary Sanchez overlooked?
In return, the Diamondbacks got pitcher Taylor Widener , the Yankees No. 14 prospect, to add to their fairly decent farm system. To make room for Drury on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated outfielder Jabari Blash for assignment.
