Infuriated over son's addiction to smartphone, man 'cuts off' teen's hand

Upon investigations it was revealed that Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Qureshi was a butcher by profession and he had warned his 19-year-old son, Khalid Qureshi, multiple times to not use his phone incessantly for watching porn. Police have arrested the accused father while his 18-year-old son has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. His son is an assistant at a local cable television operator.

A conservative Indian-Muslim father chopped off his young son's hand because he used to watch too much porn on his smartphone.

When admitted to hospital his condition initially baffled doctors, but Mr Litvinenko told them he believed he had been poisoned. The pair were seen on CCTV moments before they were knocked unconscious by an unknown substance.

After the incident, the man surrendered himself to the Pahadishareef police station and was sent for a 14-day pre-trial detention. He was rushed to a private hospital in Chaitanyapuri, where doctors tried to reconnect the wrist with rest of the hand. During wee hours on Monday, when everybody was sleeping, Qayyum woke up and chopped his son's right-hand wrist with a butcher knife. Recently, Khalid bought a smartphone and got addicted to watching movies and pornography.

The man was reportedly angry with his son over his addiction to watching films and porn videos on mobile phone. The quarrel, however, took an ugly turn as Khaled allegedly bit his father's hand out of anger and walked out of the house. However, he came back at night and started watching movies again. "However, late in the night, the boy returned home when everybody had gone to bed", states the report. The hand was 90 percent severed and chances of recovery is bleak, according to Pahadishareff police inspector VV Chalapathi.
