Wonder Woman 2: Director Patty Jenkins Confirms Kristen Wiig As Cheetah

Director Patty Jenkins has confirmed that Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live) will play the villain Cheetah in the upcoming sequel Wonder Woman 2! This news came only a couple days after it was reported that Emma Stone had turned down the role. "So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family".

Check out the tweet from Jenkins below!

Wiig was first rumoured to be in talks for the role last week, but nothing had officially be confirmed until now. And so excited by what we have planned.

While there have been no fewer than four different characters who have been called Cheetah in Wonder Woman's history, the version we'll see on screen is the most important one: Barbara Ann Minerva, a good-hearted archaeologist who unwittingly sells her soul to the god Urtzkartaga.

"Wonder Woman 2" is due for theaters on November 1, 2019, and comes on the heels of the blockbuster success of the 2017 movie, which starred Gal Gadot as the heroic lead character. Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham wrote the screenplay based on a treatment from Johns and Jenkins.

Comic book movies are often at their best when they don't take themselves too seriously, so casting the comedian could mean great news for Wonder Woman 2. That'll be one of the more interesting aspects to keep an eye on when the film comes out. Let your opinion be heard in the comment section below!
