Snapchat may soon allow you to tag people in snaps and stories

To tag someone, type out a username in the text field and then swipe up on the "more" option located at the bottom of the screen, which will open a section titled 'People, ' displaying the user's information.

The feature is being tested out on Snapchat but hasn't been rolled out for all users yet.

Not all users seem to have access to the feature just now, but if it proves popular (which it probably will) then it will likely appear for everyone eventually.

Tagging your friend will create a swipe-up menu showing the user's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an option to add them as a friend. Also, whoever gets tagged will receive a notification, so nothing will remain unseen.

Lisa Bonet Speaks Out About Bill Cosby's "Sinister, Shadow Energy"
Bonet's comments on Cosby marks the first time she's broken her silence about the disgraced comedian. She added, "She'd plead the fifth, even to me". "It's exactly as I remember it", she said.

Among the most egregious examples of this occurred when Instagram co-opted Snapchat's self-destructing video messages under a new name, "Instagram Stories", in November 2016.

As TechCrunch notes, tagging other users serves as a new way to communicate with friends on the app, while spotlighting your favorite Snapchat users.

The company has confirmed that they will be allowing users to tag one another in posts, which echoes certain capabilities found within Instagram. Usernames will automatically generate a tappable link to the associated profile.
