The White House published a new video on YouTube that highlights violence in video games by cherry picking key scenes in first-person shooters such as Call of Duty, Wolfenstein, Destiny, and more. No reporters were allowed in the meeting.

Following the White House summit on March 8th, 2018 where anti-gaming activists and some of the CEOs from the AAA game publishing studios met to discuss the role violent video games have on shaping the youth of America, the official White House website updated the public about the briefing. It's very important that there are advocates for this in the White House.

In 2013, after the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, Vice-President Joe Biden held three days of wide-ranging talks on gun violence prevention including a meeting with video game industry executives. Also attending: Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Grand Theft Auto). They expressed hope that the meeting will "provide the opportunity to have a fact-based conversation about video game ratings, our industry's commitment to parents, and the tools we provide to make informed entertainment choices". And over and over again major groups publish peer-reviewed work showing the absence of any link. "The president encouraged [game developers] to explore things they can do on their own to make things healthier in society", said Media Research Center President Brent Bozell, "and that's where it was left". "Video games are plainly not the issue: entertainment is distributed and consumed globally, but the US has an exponentially higher level of gun violence than any other nation".

During the meeting, President Trump "was asking questions and listening to the answers. He was genuinely inquisitive", Bozell said. The President's spokesperson Sarah Sanders says if it's seen in the nation's security interest some nations may be dropped off the list.

However, there is already a rating system for both video games and movies.

After the Florida slaughter Trump pointed to video games as a possible contributing factor in firearms violence.

"Our concern and I think the concern being reflected across the world, is that there will be a reaction".

While some research suggests that playing violent video games can increase aggression, the violent crime rate has fallen as video games have grown in popularity. "There may be people who lose less". The meeting started off with a montage reel that cherry picks some of the most violent parts/scenes/sequences of the most violent video games out there. The decision claimed that video games, like other media, are protected by the First Amendment.

Justin Trudeau intends next week to tour regions of the country that are heavily reliant on the steel and aluminum industries in a show of solidarity for those who would be hurt the most by the imposition of stiff USA tariffs. Older scholars and those who don't like kids are more likely to believe violent games are bad.

The AO rating is nearly exclusively used for games with sexual content (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was threatened with an AO rating over the Hot Coffee scandal) with only three games ever having been given an AO rating due to their violence (Manhunt 2, Hatred, and the cancelled Thrill Kill).
