Fortnite cross-play coming soon to Xbox One but not PS4

Fortnite cross-play coming soon to Xbox One but not PS4

The pair of announcements detailed cross-platform play between the PlayStation 4, Mobile, and PC.

Unfortunately, Xbox One was woefully left off the list of platforms supporting cross-play functionality.

Earlier it was reported that Fortnite Battle Royale would be arriving on mobile devices where it would also allow cross-platform play between mobile gamers, PC gamers, Mac gamers, and PS4 gamers. This was kind of a bummer considering Xbox has always been the console frontman for pushing cross-play incentives - it was always Sony that wasn't ready to play ball.

Sadly, there was no mention of Xbox One - PS4 cross-play suggesting that Sony is still maintaining its stance against cross-play between the two platforms. One step at a time.

Last week, Epic Games announced that the hit base-building battle royale title will be making its way to mobile devices. We've been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms'.

More to the point, it offers Marvel's best and earliest chance to truly bring home the X-Men and Fantastic Four . He probably won't be quite as cute as Baby Groot, but Thanos will appear as a child in Avengers: Infinity War .

There isn't a start date yet, but soon you'll be able to play in the same match with anyone playing on the PC or the newly announced mobile versions of the game.

You can see above how keen both parties were to involve Sony, but so far they've refused to support cross-play with any game, not just Fortnite.

A great news for the players of "Fornite" have the opportunity to play the game in different places with their departure and so that they can do so from home, on the street or wherever they prefer.

Still, Microsoft has stated that they are working closely with Epic Games to enable the feature sometime in the future.
