Kyrie Irving's Knee Injury Diagnosed as Soreness; Exits Pacers vs. Celtics

Irving did not play at all in the second half, and with Jaylen Brown and Al Horford already out of the lineup the Celtics watched a 15-point lead evaporate.

The Duke product has dealt with various ailments in his first campaign with the Celtics, including knee, shoulder and face injuries, and is yet to play more than 75 games in a season since he entered the league in 2011.

Oladipo had a 13-point third to put the Pacers in a 74-70 lead at the start of the fourth, and force the Celtics into a game of catchup that they never quite perfected.

"I think we've shown it night in, night out", said Irving.

Daniel Theis hobbled off the floor late in the Boston Celtics' 99-97 loss to the Indiana Pacers Sunday, after banging knees with Indiana's Cory Joseph setting a screen.

"We talk about being calm, and being poised", said IN coach Nate McMillan, who had already seen his team blow last-minute lead to Boston when the teams met IN December. Meanwhile, Smart had 20 points and Tatum scored 19 for the Celtics. I think the one thing that we got to do a great job of is staying in the moment and talking about the next game.

Both he and his wife, Faith, thanked everyone for attending their concert and can not wait to see their Irish fans again soon. McGraw's wife, singer Faith Hill , later came out to tell the audience he could not continue with the performance.

The collision occurred with 18 seconds left in the game on Terry Rozier's attempted game-tying layup.

The Pacers got the ball to Victor Oladipo on the inbounds and he hit both free throws for a four-point game with 10.8 to go. IN went ahead by as many as nine, and had a 93-76 lead with 2:13 to play before Boston rallied to tie 95-all with 37 seconds left.

But Rozier's 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer for Boston's second loss in eight games since the All-Star break. "I thought they took the steam out of us a little bit in the third quarter, but our guys battled and gave us a chance".

IN quickly erased a 10-point halftime deficit, scoring 11 straight points: back-to-back 3-pointers from Bojan Bogdanovich and Joseph, and then five points in a row from Oladipo, to take a 60-57 lead.

"Well that is going to be a priority anyway", said Stevens. Irving had already missed a game last week due to a sore knee, and has indicated that he will not return unless he is close to 100% fit.
