Rain likely Sunday and colder air is on the way

Tonight, rain mixed will snow will be possible and will continue into the overnight hours.

A pair of First Alert Weather Days will be in effect for Sunday and Monday as a low-pressure system approaches our area. The track will determine what type of precipitation we see. Highs lower 70s. Rain chance 20%. The best chance at a few snowflakes will be across Southern Tennessee and Northeast Alabama, where we could pick up a dusting of snow by Monday morning. Afternoon highs meanwhile will struggle to warm into the low 50s through Wednesday.

THIS MORNING: Skies are cloudy with scattered light showers.

On Sunday, temperatures are forecast to hit 66 degrees with morning fog giving way to sunny skies in the Eugene area. "That could mean more moderate to locally heavy rain later in the evening".

20 students trapped in Kurangani forest fire
At least 20 students are trapped in Kurangani hill station of Tamil Nadu after forest fire started in the area, officials said. The group was trapped in forest fire on their way back on Sunday. "We sent a team of forty forest personnel for the rescue".

High pressure is back for a cold repeat performance next week as cool air returns for well below normal temperatures through much of the week ahead. Winds will be breezy, out of the northeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Pollen counts will likely be kept at bay Monday with shower chances being the highest, but counts are expected to rise with drier weather prevailing during the week.

"We're watching rainfall off-shore where the cold front is located and there is more unstable air on the backside", Hall said Saturday. Forecasting models are not consistent with snow totals, but it has been indicated that lower totals should be expected.
