Samsung appears to have been plagued by these concerns for a long time since even the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ went through similar difficulties in including an in-screen fingerprint reader. Popular YouTuber JerryRigEverything has tortured the flagship smartphone to test its durability. In addition, the bar set by the Galaxy S8 is high: the device filled the void left by the recalled Galaxy Note 7, benefiting from pent-up demand.

Just two weeks ago, Gartner released a report that suggested there was a 5.6 percent drop in smartphone sales in Q4 2017, when compared to the previous year. This update brings the March security patch level that was released to the Pixel devices about a week back.

Following this, Samsung notes that the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy A5, and Tab S3 will get the Oreo treatment in the "spring/summer".
