Sherman: Chance to face Seahawks behind 49ers move

Newly signed San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman said one thing led him to the team over anything else: the ability to play against the Seattle Seahawks twice every season.

Sherman played his college ball in the Bay Area at Stanford under former coach Jim Harbaugh, who then went up against Sherman during his four seasons in charge of the 49ers.

The story reveals that after hammering out the details, Sherman called the Raiders and Lions - two other teams he had expected to visit after being released by the Seahawks on Friday - as well as the Seahawks.

Responding to Lynch's comments, Sherman said: "I'm vengeful in that way.", before explaining his sudden will to stick it to Seattle stemmed from some of the more questionable actions of fans who burned his jersey after learning of his departure.

That may also have been something the Seahawks wanted to avoid, undoubtedly preferring to negotiate their own longer-term deal with Sherman than merely matching what he had agreed to with the 49ers. "I didn't abandon anybody". Obviously, Richard Sherman would also have to make it his entire contract without being cut to make the full deal.

After signing Sherman, I expect the 49ers to avoid giving up the big bucks to any more secondary players in free agency and, instead, target cornerback depth in the NFL Draft. But he turns 30 later this month and is rehabbing an Achilles tear he suffered in Week 9 of the 2017 season.

Afghan soldiers killed in Taliban attack
On February 24, at least 18 Afghan soldiers were killed after Taliban militants attacked a security checkpoint in the province. In Afghanistan , 15 security personnel have been killed in an attack by Taliban in Farah province.

"Once I make a Pro Bowl, $8 million the next year is guaranteed for me".

"Richard is one of the premier competitors Kyle and I have ever encountered", 49ers general manager John Lynch said in a statement. I helped the organization get to a great place and stay there.

That Detroit wouldn't be willing to pony up for that puts a slight (but strong) limit on how far they're willing to go to upgrade the No. 2 cornerback position. I have skin in the game.

Off the field, Sherman was known to be outspoken, charitable and knowledgeable in the Seattle community which made him one of the well-known players in the National Football League today.

"I don't think any agent in the business could have done a better job of negotiating this contract", Sherman told King on Sunday night.

Sherman, known for being a shrewd thinker, was "very impressive" for his preparedness and knowledge of the market, according to Niners contract specialist Paraag Marathe. "Now, if I play the way I know I'm capable of playing, I know I'm going to get paid".
