Dramatic Video Shows People Try to Stop Driver From Fleeing After Crash

Several people, including one armed with a sledgehammer, allegedly attacked a fellow motorist suspected of hitting several cars with his SUV before fleeing, according to ABC Miami affiliate WPLG-TV.

The driver of the Infiniti eventually drove completely away from the scene, but police officers said that they later apprehended the 25-year-old, identified as Maxwell Oleg Lagutenko.

The aftermath of the crash saw the driver of a badly damaged silver Infiniti SUV reverse the vehicle out of the scene of the crash, as the driver tried to hit-and-run.

But cops warned others not to repeat the actions of the vigilante drivers who ganged up on the SUV should they find themselves in a similar situation, and dial 911 instead.

As he crossed Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 36th Street, he crashed into two more vehicles.

He might have been high on narcotics, according to an arrest report. "You have a crash, you stop".

Police said Lagutenko appeared to be under the influence of drugs when he was stopped.

Lagutenko appeared in bond court Monday afternoon and was issued a $5,000 bond.

"I guess you had a rough day yesterday", Glazer said to Lagutenko. He was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and reckless driving.

Instead, officers urge people to call the police with a description of the vehicle.
