"With what little I know, I'm certainly disappointed in what I'm hearing", Reynolds told reporters.

"This footage would suggest to me that the sexual harassment training was not effective, at least not for Mr. Dix", Carlson said. Also, Senate Republican Caucus staffers shared that "there is an environment on the Senate Floor with Senators making sexually suggestive comments or about sexual preferences" with one alleged instance happening during the 2017 session.

"I not only sponsored and voted for this amendment, but I was a leader who helped shepard (sic) this amendment through the Iowa House", Dix boasted in 2006, when he ran unsuccessfully for Iowa's 1st Congressional District seat. He represented Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Story counties.

The video posted on Iowa Starting Line is a serious matter for Senate Republican Leader Bill Dix to discuss with his family, his fellow Senate Republicans and Governor Reynolds.

Sen. David Johnson, an Ocheyedan independent who left the Republican Party in 2016 over differences with now-GOP President Donald Trump, said he had not seen the video but noted he had heard similar reports about Dix prior to Monday's posting of the video.

Senate File 2344 was introduced in the wake of an incident at the University of Iowa, where a university recognized student group called Business Leaders in Christ (BLinC) was stripped of its recognized status after a student had accused BLinC of denying him a leadership position because he is "openly gay".

"It's a disgrace to the majority party caucus".

Trump ignored their outstretched hand on universal background checks and started talking more about arming teachers. Trump also said he spoke with Singaporean leaders about the country's "zero tolerance policy" toward drug dealers.

" ... I believe he made the decision in the best interest of his family", Whitver said in a statement.

Petersen used her statement to reiterate her criticism of Dix for how he handled a recent sexual misconduct case within the chamber, which involved a former Senate GOP staffer. Dix claimed it was due to poor work performance.

Dix released findings of an investigation into Senate culture earlier this year that led to the creation of a human resources manager overseeing legislative culture.

Gov. Kim Reynolds met with Dix this afternoon after telling Des Moines' WHO TV she was "disappointed" after initially hearing the news. "That suggests to me that we've failed the people of Iowa in terms of fixing the problem so far".

Republicans in the GOP-controlled chamber plan to elect a new majority leader on Wednesday.

Dix appointed former Ambassador Mary Kramer to consult on steps that needed to take place in the Iowa Senate, and later released an internal review that found that sexual harassment prevention training is inadequate.
