National Football League free agency 2018: Buffalo Bills interested in Sam Bradford, Case Keenum

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Buffalo Bills have "some interest" in Minnesota Vikings' quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Denver Broncos have apparently worked out their quarterback situation ahead of the official start of free agency.

"I still think we're not too far away, " Elway said.

The Broncos reportedly will sign Case Keenum when free agency begins on Wednesday.

In 2017, Keenum threw 22 touchdown passes compared to only seven interceptions, and had a 98.3 passer rating, the seventh-best mark in the National Football League (and ahead of QBs such as Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Ben Roethlisberger, and Matt Ryan).

The Broncos had inside knowledge into Keenum due to senior personnel advisor and former coach Gary Kubiak's relationship with the free-agent quarterback. The Broncos had four quarterbacks with the team this past season, including Chad Kelly on injured reserve, who were former draft picks, and Denver will have simply bypassed them all to sign Keenum.

In other words, no one has to be concerned about them moving all the way down like that because it is not going to happen. They were able to do that because they still possess five picks in the Top 64, including No. 1, No. 4, No. 33 and No. 35.

With the Broncos apparently having settled on their quarterback, the Vikings, Bills, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals are the mostly likely teams to be actively seeking quarterbacks in free agency and the draft.

Keenum is now 30 years old, and was a mediocre-to-bad quarterback for his entire career, until last season. That doesn't all go on the players.

Keenum, 30, was among the second tier of available quarterbacks, and after beginning his National Football League tenure in Houston as an undrafted free agent, reached the pinnacle of his five pro seasons by helping the Vikings to the NFC championship and producing the Minnesota Miracle, a game-winning, 61-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs in a divisional playoff game against the Saints. I feel like we can get right back in the thick of the things rather quickly. After reaching the peak of Super Bowl 50 two years ago, the Broncos have sunk on the heels of two playoff-less seasons. He started 15 games for the Vikings in 2016, completing 71.6-percent of his passes for 3,877 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Now the Broncos hope he can replicate that play for the forseeable future in Denver.

Maybe Keenum's 2017 season was for real, but Elway shouldn't approach the rest of the offseason with that assumption.
