NFL Network: Danny Amendola to sign with Miami Dolphins

Amendola, 32, will best be known for his playoff performances in his five seasons with New England. However, he did his best work during the playoffs, where he caught 33 balls for 348 yards with two touchdowns in three games.

Past year was Amendola's best in a Patriots uniform with 61 catches for 659 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season.

The Dolphins traded slot receiver Jarvis Landry to the Browns this past week. However, he must have liked Miami's offer enough to decide to leave the perennial Super Bowl contenders.

Originally signed in 2013 and viewed as a replacement for Wes Welker in the Patriots offense, Amendola found stiff competition for that role in Julian Edelman, who emerged as one of Tom Brady's top options.

Man Utd's midfielder to retire at end of the season
Manchester United captain Michael Carrick has confirmed he is to call it quits with professional football at the end of the season.

Amendola becomes the second receiver the Dolphins have reportedly agreed to terms with since the free agent negotiating period opened on Monday.

Previous year was Amendola's best in a Patriots uniform with 61 catches for 659 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season.

For the Patriots' part, they had to manage Amendola's snaps in the regular season to preserve the knee. They also still have Brandin Cooks and Chris Hogan on the outside, as well as Phillip Dorsett and Kenny Britt.
