The $199 Fitbit Versa Is "the Lightest Metal Smartwatch in the US"

The $199 Fitbit Versa Is

Apple has always been lauded for their design and aesthetics, so it's no wonder that Fitbit is taking a note out of their playbook with the release of the Fitbit Versa. You'll get a three-month Deezer trial with the Versa. "The Versa has a 1.34" display covered with Gorilla Glass 3 with a brightness of up to 1000 nits. The Versa works with Android, iOS, and Windows devices.

To be clear, Fitbit isn't pitching the Versa as a woman's-only smartwatch, but for everyone-women, men, parents, and kids. Becker explained that numerous parts of the design that interact with your skin are curved and made to appear and feel softer.

In the hand, the Versa really is a far more approachable wearable than the Ionic.

It comes in a choice of finishes: black, silver or rose gold.

In addition to that limitation on iPhone users, the Versa and the revamped Fitbit software won't fix all of the problems that held the Ionic back. Plus, Fitbit is partnering with the Council of Fashion Designers of America to fund emerging label PH5, which will offer knitware bands and accessories for Versa. The screen itself is considerably improved, sharing similar specifications to the Fitbit Ionic.

There's no on-board Global Positioning System, however, the Versa relying on a Bluetooth connection to your phone for that.

When it comes to Fitbit Pay, the company's wearable payment service, the situation is a little. odd.

'Flava in Ya Ear' Rapper Craig Mack Dies at 47
He noted that Mack, having struggled with illness for some time , was "prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord. Bad Boy Records was founded in 1993 by Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs and Flava In Ya Ear was the label's first release.

The only questionable decision here is the fact that contactless payments are only available on one model in the US, and you'll have to pay extra for it. Fitbit Pay is only available on the Special Edition Versa, which costs $30 more than the standard model without Fitbit Pay.

Why the discrepancy? Melanie Chase, Fitbit's VP of marketing, told us the reason is that adoption for NFC payments has been slow in the States.

"As the wearables category continues to grow, Fitbit Versa fills a critical need in the market by delivering a beautifully designed, full-featured smartwatch that is easy to use at a very competitive price", said James Park, co-founder and CEO of Fitbit. Fitbit says Ace accounts will not be allowed to join the social component of the regular Fitbit app, which lets users share photos and workout summaries in an Instagram-like feed. It can log periods, track your cycle & gauge ovulation.

Do you plan on picking up either one of Fitbit's new devices? USA users can also listen to Pandora. There will also be groups in Fitbit's Community service for women to connect over. That is not the only thing Fitbit is banking on though.

Fitbit has just announced the Fitbit Versa, a smartwatch that's light and elegantly styled but still packed with workout apps for the fitness-focused.

With a lower price than the Ionic and a much slimmer design, this may be a better smartwatch than Fitbit's first one for a lot of people. Essentially, Fitbit has replicated the smartphone app's dashboard on your wrist. The tracker counts steps and also gives prompts to move. Hopefully that bodes well for the future of Fitbit OS - but right now, support is lacking. Recent federal data shows the rate of childhood obesity in the U.S.

The Fitbit Versa will retail for £199 for the standard edition, with more premium Special Edition options available for £229.
