Bayern Thump Besiktas To Reach Champions League Last Eight

Barring a collapse of historic proportions, Bayern Munich will advance to the Champions League quarterfinals after the second leg of its round of 16 tie against Besiktas on Wednesday.

Thiago Alcantara gave Bayern a first-half lead in Istanbul before a Gokhan Gonul own goal extended Bayern's advantage early in the second half.

Besiktas improved and were rewarded when they pulled a goal back following a mistake in the Bayern defence, Love slotting into the bottom corner past Sven Ulreich for his first Champions League goal since 2011.

The German giants have made it into the quarter-finals for the last six seasons on the trot and it would take a miracle for the Turkish side to change that here.

Top scorer Robert Lewandowski surprisingly started up front, leaving Wagner waiting for his elite European debut until the last 20 minutes.

Wahlberg donated his 1.5m dollar (£1.1m) pay cheque to Time's Up for the work to scrub the disgraced Kevin Spacey from the film. Speaking at this week's Mencap charity fashion show, in London , Olivia added: "I don't know who will play Prince Phillip yet".

Bayern posted a photo-shopped image of Wagner with the cat posing on his shoulder before including the feline in a man-of-the-match poll.

Besiktas are unbeaten in their last six Champions League home games, though five of these have ended as draws (W1).

Besiktas have now lost all three of their Champions League matches against Bayern, losing by an aggregate score of 0-9. Kingsley Coman scored the other goal.

Alaba atoned with a crucial block to deny Besiktas forward Mustafa Pektemek soon after, and the Austrian set up Wagner on 84 minutes as his deflected cross was chested over the line by the substitute.
