Shakhtar chief: Man Utd could beat Man City to Fred

Shakhtar chief: Man Utd could beat Man City to Fred

"Manchester City have cooled their interest in Fred, which could pave the way for rivals Manchester United to sign the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder", Ducker writes.

Manchester City could be crowned champions on April 7 should they win at Everton and then overcome Jose Mourinho's United at the Etihad Stadium. "It is the best league in the world, I have no doubt, and I believe that my football would evolve", he added.

Fred has been with Shakhtar since 2013 after a £13.3m switch from Brazilian club side Internacional. "In the middle of the year, we wait to see what will happen".

Indian Wells: Federer continues 2018 tear, advances to quarters
Juan Martin del Potro, a runner-up in Indian Wells in 2013, battled a bad back to outlast Leonardo Mayer 3-6 7-6 (2) 6-3. He won seven titles in 2017 that includes Halle, Miami, Shanghai, Basel, Australian Open , Wimbledon and Indian Wells .

Man Utd's last chance of glory lies with the FA Cup; they face Brighton in a quarter-final on Saturday.

Manchester City, on the other hand, could possibly be eyeing Fred as a long-term replacement for his predecessor at Shakhtar - Fernandinho. But, the fact that he will be 33 by the time the season ends means it is imperative for the Citizens to sign a potential successor. Or at Manchester United as well... at Chelsea, Arsenal... clubs of great tradition in Europe and England.

Speaking to the Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Sergei Palkin states he firmly believes Fred will end up moving to Manchester. If he does not go to Manchester City, he will go to Manchester United.

Fred has scored one goal and made one assist in eight Champions League appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk so far this season. "'In addition to being very good, Fred is very professional".

"[Pep] Guardiola did not talk to me, but there were people from City who talked to my agent". The report suggests that the player will cost around the £70 million mark, an amount that is unlikely to deter either club.
