Raphael Varane has confirmed that Manchester United are interested in luring him away from Real Madrid.

Prizing Varane away from a side that, in spite of their La Liga troubles this season, still knows more about navigating the Champions League than anyone else would be hard - especially when the alternative is playing for a team that capitulated against a La Liga opponent be probably views with the same disinterest as we do with, say, Newcastle United.

He played the full 90 minutes in both legs as the Liga side cruised past Paris Saint-Germain over two legs in the last 16.

'There were contacts, but not directly'.

Varane also found time to speak about United striker Romelu Lukaku, and claimed the Belgian is the world's strongest striker.

'We have Mata, Lukaku, Rashford, Martial, Alexis - I don't want attacking players, so speculation in the summer you have to go to other areas.' He added.

Varane says he has to vary his normal approach when he comes up against players like the Belgium global, who he described as "pure power". 'For my qualities, it's what I prefer. When it is stronger I try to pass in front, that I cannot play. He is the strongest forward in the world. I try to be more complete to annoy any striker'.
