UK Schools Evacuated After Mass Hoax Bomb Threat

In a message to Jewish institutions, the CST told the schools" security personnel to "continuously sweep" their locations and report anything suspicious, but warned against evacuating or "invacuating' the premises.

Metropolitan police has stated that they are "investigating reports of communication made to a number of schools across London".

North Yorkshire Police say a number of schools in the county have received bomb hoaxes this morning.

"We take all incidents of this nature extremely seriously and an investigation into the emails in question are underway".

The Cumbria schools that have reported this to police were Dowdales School, Lakes College, Lillyhall and North Lakes Primary School, Penrith.

"The emails inform the school that a bomb has been placed on the grounds and will be detonated if they don't hand over cash".

Brookfield headteacher Mark Stubbings said: "We took the decision to evacuate to La Sainte Union as a precautionary measure whilst we waited for further information".

A police spokesman said: "I understand that this may cause concern and I want to assure people that we are working closely with all of the schools to ensure the safety of pupils and staff".

"It is strongly believed this is part of a national scam and there is no threat to the public".

"Such malicious communications are wholly irresponsible and will not be tolerated".

"The police have assessed the risk as low as no specific school has been targeted".
