United Kingdom lawmakers say Britain should consider delaying Brexit

Britain has also agreed to bring forward alternatives to "full alignment" between Northern Ireland and the EU single market and customs union.

On the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic, Barnier said the two sides had agreed how the issue would be dealt with during the remaining negotiations.

Several weeks ago, May said "no UK prime minister could ever agree" to the plan, saying it would compromise Britain's constitutional integrity and effectively draw up a border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

He said the two sides had agreed to set up a joint committee to resolve any disputes during that transition.

However, sources say there have been concessions on both sides.

The report, endorsed by a majority of the committee's members, also argued for the flexibility to extend the transition period, if necessary, to prepare for the economic upheaval of Britain's final departure.

Diplomats handling Brexit talks for European Union member states in Brussels were summoned to an urgent meeting by European Union negotiators on Monday, diplomats and officials said, amid speculation about an interim deal ahead of a summit later this week.

But no specific time or venue has been set and North Korea has yet to confirm that it even made the offer to meet. That means Kim has given his word, Kang said.

"We have reached an agreement on the transition period", the EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier told a press conference at lunchtime on Monday.

Draft EU guidelines for the next phase of negotiations were published earlier this month and will form the basis of the statement EU leaders will release after their summit next Friday.

"I should make it clear today that I will not support a deal as we leave the European Union which, over the long-term, fails to deliver that full control over fish stocks and vessel access", Davidson said. So they are talking about a purely political agreement which would not have legal force. The government seem to have disregarded them on the length of the transition period.

Britain seeks to be part of the bloc's single market for two years after officially leaving in exchange for following European Union regulations.

The agreement will not be finalised in legal text until the issue of how to avoid a hard border between north and south Ireland is resolved.

The joint legal text for a draft withdrawal agreement agreed by the EU and the Commission will go forward to the European Council of EU leaders for approval at Thursday's summit, Mr Barnier said. "It's vital we find a resolution to this issue as soon as possible".

Allie Renison, head of Europe and trade policy at the Institute of Directors, broadly welcomed the progress but added: "We are concerned that not enough attention is being given now to the finer details and practical implications of transition".
