Half of Americans approve of Trump's job performance, poll says

The Rasmussen poll published Monday shows Trump with a 50 percent approval rating and 49 percent disapproval among voters.

Between staff shakeups and an adult film star's lawsuit, it's an unpredictable time for President Donald Trump.

The daily popularity tracking poll from Rasmussen Reports said that 50 percent of Americans approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing.

Still, the Rasmussen poll shows almost as many people - 49 percent - disapprove of Trump, and more of the respondents (39 percent) strongly disapprove of him than strongly approve (33 percent).

Trump's surge in the polls over recent weeks comes alongside a variety of good economic news and a series of foreign policy wins, including Trump's forthcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the first time an American President has met his North Korean counterpart.

However, Rasmussen is the only pollster to regularly give Trump such high ratings.

The Rasmussen sampling included 1,500 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

Trump's approval ratings have steadily climbed in other, less-favorable polls with aggregator FiveThirtyEight putting his overall approval at 40 percent, with a 53.2 percent disapproval rating.

The survey found that 50 percent of likely voters polled said they approved of Trump's job performance, while 49 percent of voters said they disapproved.
