Lok Sabha adjourned till noon, Opposition to move no-confidence motion

It may be noted that the cost of the session took into account the loss of productivity and the money spent for the efficient functioning of the two Parliamentary houses, apart from salaries, allowances and other facilities enjoyed by members of the two houses.

The logjam between the government and the opposition continued in Parliament for the 19th day today.

The second phase of the budget session has nearly been a washout so far.

"I am duty bound to allow the motion, but I can not do the headcount in this situation and therefore I request all members to go back to their seats", she said.

Seconds after the House reconvened at 12 pm and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan took her seat, Opposition MPs stormed the Well of the House holding placards and shouting slogans saying "We want justice" in a repeat of what had transpired last week. Rajya Sabha too was adjourned soon after newly-elected members took oath as opposition MPs, including from Congress and TMC, trooped into the well raising slogans in support of their demands.

Both the Houses of Parliament have been witnessing disruptions over different issues, including demands for special status to Andhra Pradesh, setting up of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and the multi-thousand crore Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud since March 5 when Parliament reassembled for the budget session after recess. Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu Naidu soon adjourned the House.

Also happening Tuesday, President Trump will host the leaders of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania at the White House. Both sides said they haven't started preparations for the visit.

"Narendra Modi - Dalit Virodhi" (Narendra Modi is anti-Dalit), shouted Congress and BSP members. KVP Ramachandra Rao of the Congress was also holding a placard demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh.

Moreover, the Central government has requested the Supreme Court to give some more time for constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Board. Had this been done, AIADMK MPs may not have continued their protest and the notice on the no-confidence motion could have come up for discussion.

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday was adjourned for half an hour till 1443 hrs amid panedemonium after Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office and DoNER Jeetendra Singh tabled the Prevention of Corruption Bill with nearly the entire Opposition in the Well of the House. The Upper House will meet again on Wednesday at 11 am.

No significant business has been transacted either by Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha in the last 18 days.

"Entire country is watching", he said.
