All-new Ford Focus breaks cover

Ford detailed numerous mechanical, bodystyle, and trim options that it will make available on the Focus for European and Chinese markets on Tuesday, including body styles ranging from a four-door sedan, a five-door hatch, a wagon, and an all-new Active with a jacked up the suspension and plastic body cladding all the way around that could come here.

The auto will be available in select European markets later this year.

Each trim grade gets its own distinct look and materials, including fine-grain wood-effect finishes and premium leather for Vignale; sporty carbon fibre-effect finishes and red stitching for the ST-Line; and more rugged textured materials for the Active.

Overall, it's a more substantial, mature looking vehicle - it could never be the dramatic departure its 1998 forefather was compared with the old Escort. The features will vary by market, but include things such as adaptive cruise with stop & go ability, speed limit sign recognition, Active Park Assist with fully automated functionality and more.

While the design looks nothing like the original Focus, then, under the body, Ford has attempted to retain some of the old car's fun-to-drive DNA.

For most markets you're looking at a powertrain lineup consisting of 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-3 and 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engines, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 diesel.

Estate cars are not as popular as they once were, so it's good to see Ford still making a practical estate variant of the Focus -. It's worth noting that to begin with that at launch the new 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines are not available. The second-largest US automaker said it's deepening its pact with Changan and another partner, Jiangling Motors Corp., by starting a new distribution unit.

Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies said the Mazda "appears to be grey in color, with a large white decal on the back window". According to reports, Hendrickson was taken to hospital after suffering a knee injury and possible fractured ribs.

"The all-new Focus is the fulfillment of the Focus promise and as of today, sets the benchmark for others to follow". The same automatic steering technology will be used for Evasive Steering Assist, which Ford says will help the Focus navigate around potential obstacles when there's the risk of a collision.

"We grabbed it with both hands, to develop the best mid-size family vehicle that money can buy". Ford also claims that the new electric power steering is sharper and more responsive than ever. The VW Golf rival now carries the type of safety gizmos and gadgets that were reserved for range-topping luxury cars a few years ago.

Plus, the vehicle provides a head-up display, enhanced semi-automatic Parking control system "dead" zones, rear-view camera, detection of pedestrians and cyclists.

Those after a little more punch will need the new 1.5-litre EcoBoost, which comes in 148bhp and 180bhp guises.

The result will be a significant drop in the number of orderable configurations Ford offers of the 2019 Focus.

Expect a major shift in the cabin's design and control layout.

Any new tariffs shouldn't impose restrictions on Ford's venture with Changan, which manufactures cars in China for the local market, said He Chaobing, executive vice president at the unit. It will offer FordPass Connect, with an embedded modem and a WiFi radio, creating a hotspot for up to ten devices at a time.
