Ford Focus Unveiled For Europe

"We'll tailor which cars in the Focus lineup we offer in markets around the world to ensure we best meet customers' different needs and preferences", Jim Farley, Ford's president of Global Markets, said in a statement.

Engine specifications for North America will be announced closer to launch, scheduled for the second half of 2019.

The new fourth-generation Focus is redesigned from the wheels up, according to Ford. Ford will make available globally four-door sedans, five-door hatchbacks, and five-door wagons, although probably only the first two will make it to the U.S.

The range will comprise seven variants from launch, starting with Style (at £17,930), the range progresses through Zetec (£19,300), ST-Line (£21,570), ST-Line X (£24,050), Titanium (£21,550), Titanium X (£22,820) and the top-of-the range Vignale (£25,450). Other engines available include a new 1.5-litre "EcoBlue" diesel engine, a 2.0-litre diesel unit and also a 1.0-litre petrol EcoBoost engine.

The last Focus was somewhat lacking in safety kit - not helped by the fact it was an ageing vehicle. There's also a 2.0-litre diesel engine option for Europe.

An available Sync 3 8-inch multimedia screen is front and center on the dash; it's compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and can be operated using pinch-and-swipe gestures. The 2019 Focus is completely revamped with more style, new engines, an improved chassis and more features, like Ford CoPilot360.

The design of the vehicle of new generation used more high-strength steel, thereby to achieve weight reduction.

Ford has released photos of the "ST-Line" Focus but the pure "ST" hot hatch version will follow the rest of the range by at least 12 months. The console also adds soft knee pads for driver comfort.

Ford has today delivered the global public debut of its all-new Ford Focus, which has been overhauled to coincide with the vehicle's 20 anniversary.

Ford also showed a revamped Escort model along with the Focus in China, betting that the sporty mid-sized vehicles will lure buyers away from Volkswagen AG's Passat and Toyota Motor Corp.'s Corolla.

The cabin looks much nicer than the outgoing model and thanks to a longer wheelbase (length is increased by 18mm, the wheelbase by 53mm), there's more space in there as well. It also flaunts premium music system with 675-watt from B&O Play. A bigger 1.5-litre EcoBoost churns out 148 hp or 180 hp. A new eight-speed automatic transmission, which features "Adaptive Shift Scheduling and shift-smoothing" is optional. Even if it's just groceries you're carrying, the hands-free liftgate system - which opens the trunk when you kick under the rear bumper - will be useful.
