Charlotte man pleads guilty in murder of Pennsylvania native

Joshua Holby, who pleaded not guilty to two counts of kidnapping and false imprisonment on January 11, is scheduled for a settlement hearing on Thursday, April 19, at 9 a.m. Steven Powers, who faces charges of kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct and false imprisonment, is scheduled for a contested omnibus hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 20.

He pleaded guilty to entering a dwelling with intent and threatening violence by trying to light a fire on January 26 this year in West Mackay.

In an unrelated federal prosecution that originated in Morristown, Jacob Thomas Trent, 25, indicated he'll plead guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Fox persuaded the girl to send him naked photos by threatening to reveal her secrets if she didn't comply, prosecutors said. When she tried to cut off communication with him, according to court documents, she claimed he created a new Instagram account and shared her naked pictures with some of her classmates, which led to bullying at school.

The case was investigated by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Secret Service, and the Internal Revenue Service.

The criminal complaint says Fox admitted that he blackmailed the girl when agents executed a search warrant on his Schofield base apartment weeks ago.

Co-defendant Nick Vandervoort is charged with one count of first degree murder.He is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on April 20.

The ACCC's investigation into other alleged cartel participants is continuing.
