Kevin Spacey Subject of Sex Crimes Review by LA District Attorney's Office

The Oscar-winning actor was accused of sexual assault by a number of men during the #MeToo movement, leading to authorities in both the USA and the United Kingdom - where he often worked - opening criminal investigations against him.

A sexual assault charge against Kevin Spacey is being considered by prosecutors in Los Angeles, in the first known investigation outside the UK.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is reviewing a potential criminal case against actor Kevin Spacey involving an alleged sexual assault in West Hollywood in 1992.

The county sheriff's department presented results of its own investigation of the issue to the district attorney last week, five months later Spacey was sacked from your Netflix tv play "House of Cards" within sexual misconduct accusations.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department presented the case to prosecutors on April 5.

The case was opened back in December 2017, and according to an LASD statement reported by CNN, refers to "events" from October 1992, taking place in West Hollywood, California.

Following the allegations of sexual misconduct, Spacey was removed from his role in "All The Money in the World" - a role for which his replacement, Christopher Plummer, received an Academy Award nomination this year.

Spacey apologized to his first public accuser, actor Anthony Rapp, and his representatives have said he was seeking unspecified treatment.

Rapp's allegation proved to be a watershed moment with London's Old Vic theatre, where Spacey was artistic director from 2004 to 2015, found 20 people said they had been subjected to inappropriate behaviour from the Spacey.

A spokeswoman for Spacey's legal team declined to comment on the latest investigation.
