OKC Thunder Suspend Announcer For 'Cotton-Picking' Comment

Wednesday's game marked the end of the regular season with the team ultimately beating the Memphis Grizzlies 137-123.

Legendary television and radio host Larry King weighed in on the controversy surrounding National Basketball Association commentator Brian Davis, and his statement made about Russell Westbrook being out of his "cotton-pickin' mind". The Thunder have even issued a statement condemning the comments yesterday, and Davis was suspended by Fox Sports on Friday.

While Westbrook was on his way to his 17th triple-double of the season, the UCLA product hit teammate Terrance Ferguson in the corner for an open three-pointer, which is when Davis made his ill-fated call.

Thunder vice president Dan Mahoney says the comment was inappropriate.

The announcer said that he didn't attach any racial meaning to his comment, but accepted the suspension.

May and Trump agree use of chemical weapons must not go unchallenged
Nikki Haley , the us ambassador to the United Nations, said all three countries have concluded chemical weapons were used. He accused Washington of putting global peace at risk and said the situation was "very dangerous".

Cotton picking was the primary responsibility for black slaves in the South, so the term can be offensive when used by a white person to describe a black person.

The Thunder's radio play-by-play man Matt Pinto will replace Davis for Game 1. "Brian assures me that it was not meant in any derogatory way, and he apologizes". "While unintentional, I understand and acknowledge the gravity of the situation. I offer my honest apology". "But again, we feel strongly that it's inappropriate and offensive". "This is an appropriate effect for my actions", Davis concluded.

It is unclear if Davis will address his comments in a future broadcast, but Mahoney said that decision is left up to him.

The Thunder open the playoffs at home against the Utah Jazz tomorrow afternoon.
