WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY: Conditions Will Slowly Improve Today

Environment Canada is predicting freezing rain and ... wait for it ... an ice storm this weekend.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 2 pm Saturday until 2 pm Sunday for Oneida, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango and Otsego counties.

Light rain will change over to freezing rain Saturday evening before increasing in intensity overnight, Lincoln Park police said.

Freezing rain may become mixed with or turn over to ice pellets before potentially tapering off to patchy freezing drizzle for a few hours Saturday night.

Sleet could fall in northern Oneida County, and widespread freezing rain could bring up to a quarter-inch of ice.

"Last season it was the round of 16, this season it's the quarter finals, hopefully next season we can go to the semi-finals". The Reds won the series 5-1 in aggregate, following a 2-1 victory Tuesday at Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.

The wintry mix is expected to stretch into Monday morning.

As this air moves in, Cameron said, not only will temperatures drop, but rain showers will form as the heavier cold air undercuts the more buoyant warm air and lifts it.

A winter weather advisory has been issued in Dearborn from 8 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, as freezing rain and sleet are expected.
