Both games of Detroit Tigers doubleheader vs. Yankees postponed due to weather

Updates with new lead.

The first game of Sunday's doubleheader between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers has been postponed. It was the Yankees' first inside-the-park homer since Curtis Granderson's on August 21, 2011.

Aaron Hicks ran 360 feet, made a Superman dive toward home and smiled after crossing the plate. Hicks followed and launched a first-pitch changeup off the base of the wall in right-center. "It's a lot more exciting", Hicks said. "Once you're rounding that third bag right there, it's kind of fun seeing if you can make it or not".

The Yankees have hit 11 home runs in their last 10 games.

Here are some things to look for over the next few days as the two teams square off for a three game series.

Police have eliminated more than 45 suspected criminals in alleged encounters since the Yogi Adityanath government took over. Eight people have been arrested over the killing, including four police officers and a minor.

An erratic Dellin Betances outing in the eighth almost flipped the night's script entirely - he allowed three runs and saw the go-ahead run come to the plate - but with two on and two out, Chad Green struck out Dixon Machado.

He added a solo shot over the right-field wall in the sixth. Boyd is 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA this year. Fiers finished the season 8-10 overall with a 5.22 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP.

It was not a good second inning for the Tigers in the outfield. At the last moment, however, Castellanos ducked and the ball went over his head. The Yankees' previous inside-the-park homer was by Curtis Granderson at Minnesota on August 21, 2011.

Two struggling teams look to get back on the right track this weekend at Comerica Park in Detroit over the weekend.

Brett Gardner brought home another run in the fifth with a bloop double, and Aaron Judge drove in Gardner with a single. Chad Green had to clean up his mess, striking out Dixon Machado looking with runners on first and second. He took a 6-1 lead into the seventh before being knocked out by Victor Martinez's RBI double and Gardner's throwing error. The Tigers have hit just three home runs as a team in 12 games this season. There were no major issues in their first meeting this season. He pitched six innings and allowed only three hits with one walk in a scoreless effort against the White Sox. He'll be filling in for CC Sabathia during this turn in the rotation. "He sounded upbeat. He sounded like he was in a good place, and felt like he was at least starting to scratch the surface on some answers, hopefully", Boone said. He remained in the game.
